World cup gold medal doesn't exactly concludes the GOAT debate. There's more to that!

Sincerest congratulations to Lionel Messi on being crowned world champion after a well fought victory against France in the world cup. Well deserved! But not well conclusive as we all may agree.

The foremost competitive rivalry in all of football history have so far been the Christiano Ronaldo v Lionel Messi era, but according to a majority,the battle is all up on Messi’s favour with 7 ballon d’ors, a more stacked trophy cabinet and the world cup seems like the icing on the cake, or to some brutal fans, the final nail on Ronaldo’s coffin. But it exactly isn’t sealed up to a degree, is it?

Starting this article trying to glorify both sides would seem coward, but definitely, Christiano have a point to prove, and that he did more than once in his career.

We all know Christiano as the all time greatest goal scorer, surpassing up to a massive 800 in all his career, with Messi tightly catching up with the Portuguese, but that exactly isn’t why we are here, not exactly!

The GOAT debate have never been this lethal in all of football, it have always been a one-man regime thing, as of no competition for Pele and Maradona, but you definitely cannot mention Lionel Messi without subconsciously hearing whispers of Ronaldo in your eardrums.

The GOAT debate have been a monarch type of regime that while Christiano ruled in his days at Real Madrid CF,Messi currently is taking football on its hills, current contender for his 8th ballon d’or while Ronaldo is at the brink of leaving European football with the termination of his club contract with Manchester united, or a possible retirement.

Safe to say that Ronaldo’s regime in football came to an end back in 2017 with his transfer to Juventus and then Lionel picked up the baton. But Messi currently is not the Argentine magician as of his Barcelona and is now more of a team player, something Ronaldo have been in all of his career

Both legends are due for retirement and the obvious now should be, is there a chance of competition for the crown between the upcoming youngsters of present?

Conclusion: People have different conceptions as to who the greatest in the game is due to club fans, love and passion. But instead of punishing the other for his beliefs, let’s all embrace the game and it’s superstars.
